Maxcoat 5720 PFAS Free OGR

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Maxcoat 5720 is an advanced, water-based acrylic copolymer solution engineered to deliver high-performance barrier properties essential for food-safe applications. It has been optimized for the application in the wet-end section of the paper machine, and for the manufacture of molded pulp packaging.  With its robust oil, grease, and water resistance, it meets critical industry needs for sustainable food packaging solutions, allowing manufacturers to replace traditional PFAS-laden additives with a compliant, environmentally friendly alternative.

WET-END APPLICATION

Maxcoat 5720 is optimized for wet-end application in pulp slurry, where its cationic affinity ensures thorough fiber integration, offering enhanced durability and long-lasting resistance. This additive enables molded pulp packaging to withstand demanding conditions, supporting food contact safety without the environmental impact of PFAS. The flexibility of Maxcoat 5720’s formulation allows for tailored application rates, ranging from 6–10%, to meet specific oil and grease

It is recommended to add Maxcoat-5720 in the thick stock, after the refiners, at a level between 6 -10 % based on dry pulp, depending on the required level of oil & grease and water resistance. As a cationic polymer, Maxcoat-5720 has a strong affinity with the fibres.  As Maxcoat -5720 might generate foam under shear conditions, the use of a defoamer may therefore benecessary. It is based on Cationic copolymer emulsion, which does not contain PFAS. Maxcoat-5720 is slightly cationic, so compatibility with other anionic must be checked.
